Public Hearing for Devoll River Strategic Environmental Assessment
On 25 March 2010, Devoll Hydropower Sh.A. participated in the public hearing on the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) proposal for Energy Planning in the Devoll River. The event in the cultural house in Gramsh was organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy (METE) and attended by a large number of community representatives.
The SEA, carried out by the Ministry of Economy Trade and Energy and its group of experts in close cooperation with the Ministry of Environment defines the Albanian strategic framework of hydropower development in the Devoll valley in terms of environmental protection and social development.
The purpose of SEA is:
- Clarify regulatory conditions and limitations.
- Discuss the proposed alternative hydropower options and no- action option from a social and environmental perspective.
- Provide information on opportunities and limitations on future land use and economic development.
- Identify critical issues and needs for further study
Devoll Hydropower Sh.A. shall implement its project by paying attention to such important document, by respecting the nature, environment and the community of the area.
