Statkraft support health activities on Breast Cancer Awareness month in the Devoll project area
In this Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Statkraft Albania supported the implementation of a health related activity organized with women in the Banja HPP area.
This initiative follows a successful cooperation for another health campaign with pupils in the end of 2017 and Statkraft Albania continued its cooperation with the local health authorities in the town of Gramsh in support of women living in the area without access to appropriate screening mechanisms.
The initiative consists of offering free health checks for women in the area following their participation in mammogram examinations offered by the authorities (the first time in 15 years) which was the Gramsh Public Health authority contribution to the initiative. Statkraft committed to supplementing these examinations with a full health check including female specific testing such as pap smears, breast ultrasounds and gynaecological visits.
To date more than 250 women have benefited from this campaign and a total of more than 400 participants are targeted for participation. Awareness sessions on health risks were also conducted with the participants in the activity.
The activity was supported in the frame of the Banja HPP Environment and Social Management Plan for Operations with the aim to increase awareness on health risks and offering concrete support for a specific target group.
